2013 Call for Nominations

Each year NSPA members have many opportunities to serve their association.  One of the most rewarding ways is to serve as a member of the NSPA Executive Board.  This year there are again two positions open to interested members.  Positions will run July 1st to June 30th.

Secretary

This is a 2-year commitment to serve NSPA members.  The secretary is responsible for taking the minutes at NSPA Executive Board Meetings, preparing and distributing the minutes to the Executive Board  members as well as to the Newsletter Editor for publication.  In addition, the Secretary monitors application of Robert’s Rules of Order—Revised, and keeps up-to-date electronic and paper copies of the Association’s Constitution and By-Laws.  At times, the Secretary is asked to prepare and forward personal communication as directed by the Executive Board (e.g., thank you notes, congratulatory notes, letters of sympathy, etc.).  It is expected that the Secretary will maintain a notebook of agendas, minutes, reports, other items distributed during Executive Board Meetings, the Constitution and By-Laws, and forms of personal communication.

President Elect

This is the first of a 3-year commitment to serve NSPA members.  As President-Elect your primary responsibility would be to help plan the Fall Conference.  Typically, NSPA sends the President-Elect to help represent our association at the NASP Central Regional Meeting held in mid-November.  As President you would lead association meetings and represent NSPA at state and national conferences.  The Past President is primarily responsible for seeking NSPA award nominations and presenting those awards at the Fall Conference.  The Past President also seeks nominations for elected NSPA offices to be chosen by the membership prior to the Spring conference.  Each of these positions provides an opportunity to help set the agenda for the association.

Elections will be held in early March 2013.  Members should contact Jennifer Wiehe, NSPA Past President, with questions, suggestions, or to express their interest in either of these positions by February 14, 2013.
